Instrument Training

ALL Trainings have to be requested via the PPMS system (=> 'Request'). We will contact you for possible appointments once we have received the request.

Please note that in order to get autonomous user rights, you also have to complete a short laser safety briefing, then submit the signed confirmation (download below).

Instrument Training for analyzers:

First we will do an initial training session at the instrument together (ca. 1h for BD analyzers; ca. 2h for Aurora). We will contact you after we have received the training request on PPMS. This initial trainig is without samples (except for users with high level of experience).
When the initial training is completed the user can plan for sessions using his own samples, starting with booking of 'assisted sessions' which we schedule together beforehand. During these sessions it will be made sure that the user can follow the guidelines for instrument handling, and uses the best settings for his/her samples.
It is solely the staff's decision when the user is ready for autonomous use of the instrument(s).

Training for the use of the ImageStream:

Training at the ImageStream is most straight forward if you bring your samples at the first appointment (but not too many for the start). In advance, we will  discuss your project plans and the necessary controls etc. We will provide you with a sample preparation info sheet. You are asked to elaborate on your plans when submittingthe training request form on PPMS, but you can also reach out via email beforehand. You should plan one full day for this training (settings optimization, sample acquisition, first steps of analysis).

Training for the use of sorters:

We can only train users that are experienced in flow cytometry, and only if they require a considerable number of sorts. We offer the service option for inexperienced users, or if users only require a few sorts - this saves money and nerves for both sides.
Adequate prior experience in flow cytometry or participation in a classroom/theory training is a prerequisite. Please provide documentation in case this experience was acquired outside our Core Facility.
First we will do an initial demonstrative session together (2.5-3h; no samples). When the initial training is completed the user can plan for sessions using his own samples, booking 'assisted sessions' which we schedule together beforehand. During these sessions it will be made sure that the user can follow the guidelines for instrument handling with increasing independency, and uses the best settings for his/her samples.
It is solely the staff's decision when the user is ready for autonomous use of the instrument(s).
